WG CDR. Rakesh Sharma Visits Shiv Nadar School, Noida

Shiv Nadar School, Noida, had the distinct honor of welcoming Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian citizen in space. His visit provided an extraordinary opportunity for our students to connect with a true national hero and gain insights into the fascinating world of space exploration.

Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1970, Wing Commander Sharma made history in 1984 as part of a joint space mission with the Soviet Intercosmos program. For his remarkable achievements, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and India's highest peacetime gallantry award, the Ashok Chakra.

During his visit, Wing Commander Sharma shared his incredible journey, from the rigorous training to the challenges of space travel and the profound experiences aboard the space station during ‘Fire Chat’ held by our students. Our students and parents were captivated by his stories and eagerly engaged with him, asking numerous questions about his life as an astronaut.
