While learning about Air transport during the theme I Love Transport, the children of Pre-Primary experienced meeting a Pilot who visited our school and the process of taking a flight. With a lot of excitement, the children asked the Pilot many questions they wondered about, such as “How do you fly the plane?” or “What happens when a bird hits the plane?” Along with answering their questions, the Pilot used a model of a plane and told the children the main parts of a plane and other things associated with flying, such as Air Traffic Control (ATC) and runway. He demonstrated how the plane takes-off and lands using the different wings.
For a more holistic learning, an Airport was set-up in KG corridors. The children chose a destination, filled their boarding passes, and made their own passports. They started the process by Checking-in and getting security tags on their bags. They then proceeded to Immigration counter and got their passports stamped. Thereafter, they reached the Security check where they got themselves as well as their bags scanned. They waited in the Boarding lounge, after which they boarded the flight. They experienced the inflight announcements, the safety demonstration and ordering their meals. The children had a truly enriching experience, with many aspiring to be Pilots.
An interhouse elocution competition was recently organised in Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad. Students from grade 3 to 6 participated in this event aimed at encouraging fine public speaking skills. While grade 3 and 4 spoke on ‘spring’ as their theme, the senior grades inspired the audience by giving speeches on ‘courage’.
No year is complete without showcasing the learning journey of children in Kindergarten. The KG day was eagerly awaited by parents and the students who were bubbling with enthusiasm to perform infront of them. The children exhibited the trajectory of their year-long learnings in different scholastic domains. The children spoke confidently as they addressed their parents and shared their evolvement with pride. The parents were glad to know what an enriching year it had been for the children, and how far their children had come over the year.
Shiv Nadar School firmly believes in building a strong culture of parent-school engagement. A combined effort between parents and school guarantees better results in the growth of a child. When children feel they are cared for and supported by both key players (parents and teachers) in their education, their self-esteem or self-worth improves. For this purpose, the school organized Coffee Evenings for Grades 1 and above.
The interactive session helped the parents understand the school initiatives and build a broader perspective of how the school functions. For overall development of the child, it is very important for parents and school to be on the same page.
Our Principal, Ms. Anju Wal unfolded various thoughts on Indulgence Vs Independence to Real World Vs Virtual World, Step-up Leadership among others. All the subject teachers and Home Room Teachers interacted with the parents of their respective habitats.
The session generated symbiotic energy to propel the child in his journey ahead. Parents were really happy with the session as it also gave an opportunity to voice their opinions and put their queries to rest.

Apart from our school, there were representatives of few reputed Delhi based schools like Manav Sthali School, Springdale School.
Students learnt about the biomes of Earth and the flora and fauna which flourishes in these biomes. The video was not only knowledge gaining but also reflecting as to how this flourishing species of flora and fauna is diminishing and in turn our planet is being affected due to human intervention. Shiv Nadar School Career Guidance Centre (CGC) is very nascent in Faridabad campus. It is a non-judgmental, open-minded space to connect and collaborate with students to make them future ready in the ways that best resonate with each child's personality. The CGC gives concrete shape to students' goals and interests, options for higher studies and ultimately, career choices, in a supportive environment.
The CGC has a clear mandate to create a cadre of young people well-equipped to decide their paths forward into the world beyond school. It provides excellent tools, programmes and platforms so that children make confident and informed choices.
Walk the Talk is one such initiative wherein experts from different fields come to talk to students. Such sessions serve to dispel existing queries regarding certain career choices, as well as to inform students on new and emerging professional and academic domains.
You will be happy to know that we hosted our first 'Walk the Talk' session with RJ RAHUL MAKIN wherein he shared his journey, experiences, challenges and various opportunities that came his way.
He talked about the importance of reading and to be updated about the world around. He spoke about his success mantra with our young scholars i.e. one should follow his/her passion with complete dedication, hard work and right attitude. He shared some really great insights and real-life stories which had a positive impact on our children. He said “Just be yourself, as you cannot mask yourself for too long’. He stated that every individual should identify that one innate talent that he/she is born with and pursue it wholeheartedly.
There were two special things about the session, one that we had RJ Rahul Makin on board and second that the show was hosted by and for the students of Shiv Nadar School.
Our Grade 9 students found the session an enjoyable learning experience.
