IBDP Bridge Students Explore Industry and Cooperative Systems at Banas Dairy

Students of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Bridge Programme at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad visited Banas Dairy (Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited), an Amul manufacturing unit located in Sector 68, Faridabad, as part of an experiential learning engagement designed to support their transition into the IBDP curriculum.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to move beyond theoretical understanding and engage directly with the practical intersections of business management, economics, psychology, and social history within a real-world industrial setting.

During the visit, students closely observed the functioning of a large-scale dairy manufacturing operation and examined the unique cooperative model that defines Amul’s organisational structure. They explored how the facility manages operational efficiency, real-time demand and supply, and the dynamics of a highly competitive dairy industry.

Students were introduced to the historical evolution of milk cooperatives in India through informative documentaries, enabling them to understand the socio-economic significance of cooperative movements in the country.

Adding an interdisciplinary dimension to the experience, students also conducted a short psychology survey with employees at the facility, building upon research tools and survey frameworks they had designed during the previous week. This hands-on engagement encouraged students to apply inquiry, research, and analytical skills in authentic contexts.

The visit successfully sparked curiosity, encouraged critical thinking, and strengthened perspective development among learners, while laying a strong foundation for the interdisciplinary and inquiry-driven approach central to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad.

Learning in Context: Exploring Global Contexts in the Middle Years Programme

Students of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad participated in an engaging session on Global Contexts, exploring how classroom learning connects meaningfully to real-world situations and global perspectives.

The session began with a thought-provoking visual activity, followed by a collaborative “chalk down” exercise where students worked together to make connections across all six Global Contexts of the MYP framework. Building on this understanding, each student selected an individual topic and independently mapped its relevance across the different contexts, strengthening their ability to think critically, make interdisciplinary connections, and apply learning meaningfully.

The session encouraged students to move beyond subject boundaries and understand the broader relevance of their learning experiences within local, national, and global contexts.

Approaches to Learning Skills in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad

Students of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad participated in an interactive session on Approaches to Learning (ATL) Skills, a key component of the MYP framework.

The session introduced students to the five ATL skill categories — Communication Skills, Social Skills, Self-Management Skills, Research Skills, and Thinking Skills — through collaborative discussions, practical examples, and reflective activities.

Students explored how these skills support effective learning across disciplines and help learners become independent, responsible, and reflective individuals. The session encouraged students to identify their existing strengths while recognising areas for further growth and development.

Through meaningful interactions and collaborative exercises, students gained a deeper understanding of how ATL Skills contribute to success not only within the MYP journey, but equally in lifelong learning and real-world situations.

Reflecting Through the Learner Profile at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad

As part of their orientation to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad, students participated in a reflective session focused on the IB Learner Profile, a core component of the IB philosophy that nurtures well-rounded, principled, and globally minded individuals.

The session introduced students to the significance of the Learner Profile attributes in shaping them into inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and reflective learners. Students were introduced to their MYP journals and engaged in a thoughtful activity where they documented two landmark events from their lives.

They then reflected on how these experiences connected to different Learner Profile attributes, helping them recognise the qualities they already demonstrate while identifying areas they aspire to strengthen further.

The session fostered self-awareness, meaningful reflection, and personal growth, enabling students to better understand how the Learner Profile supports their development throughout their MYP journey and beyond.

Samar Raj Sharma Represents Shiv Nadar School at Regen Conference 2026

Samar Raj Sharma

In a powerful display of youth-led advocacy and global citizenship, seven students from Shiv Nadar School Faridabad participated in the Regen Conference 2026, accompanied by educators Ms. Manjima Chatterjee and Ms. Shalini Chablani.

Hosted at the Green School, the conference brought together nearly 500 students from across the world to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaborative learning around sustainability, regenerative practices, and environmental leadership.

The experience offered students a firsthand understanding of sustainable living. The campus itself reflected regenerative principles through its eco-conscious design, featuring structures built from bamboo and hay, the absence of air conditioning systems, and the use of compost toilets. These immersive experiences demonstrated how sustainability can be meaningfully integrated into everyday life at scale.

Students actively participated in “Climate Cafés,” reflective and collaborative spaces where young changemakers exchanged perspectives on environmental ethics, responsible ownership, and the role of youth in shaping a sustainable future.

A proud highlight of the conference was the selection of Samar Raj Sharma from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (Batch of 2027) as a Lightning Speaker. Samar delivered a compelling address that thoughtfully connected academic learning with the urgency of climate action, demonstrating confidence, clarity of thought, and the spirit of an impactful global learner.

Throughout the conference, students explored concepts such as the “Four S” framework — Sensing, Seeking, Shaping, and Storytelling — while engaging with innovative sustainability practices including biomimicry and regenerative design thinking.

The experience inspired students to return with renewed purpose, deeper environmental awareness, and a strengthened commitment to contributing meaningfully towards a more sustainable and responsible future.
