Koel Ray is an accomplished international educator and school leader with over two decades of experience across India and overseas. As Vice Principal of Shiv Nadar School Chennai, she brings deep expertise in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and whole-school academic development.

Her career includes leadership roles in distinguished IB institutions such as The Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad, Indus International School, and Oaktree International. Across these settings, she has served as Senior School Principal, Dean of Studies, Director of Teaching & Learning, MYP Coordinator, and Head of Department. Her work has consistently focused on strengthening teaching practices, building coherent curriculum pathways, developing teacher capability, and nurturing a positive, engaged learning culture.

A respected voice in the global IB community, Koel contributes as an IB MYP Workshop Leader, Chair for Synchronized Visits, Verification & Evaluation Team Leader, IB Consultant, Curriculum Reviewer, and IB DP Examiner for History, Theory of Knowledge, and Extended Essay. She has led numerous academic development initiatives spanning curriculum design, professional learning frameworks, K–12 pedagogical alignment, and data-informed academic planning. Her experience includes establishing robust instructional systems, enhancing school–community connections, shaping academic policy, and fostering reflective, collaborative professional cultures.

Koel holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Calcutta, a Bachelor of Education from Loreto College, and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School Online. Her educational philosophy is rooted in developing ethical, open-minded, critically reflective learners who engage meaningfully with the world. She is a strong advocate for inquiry-driven learning, student agency, intercultural understanding, and values-based education.
