Funkaar 2019
The word ‘funkaar’ means artist; but ‘fun’kaar is also having fun at work! Funkaar Week is a time for exploring the science behind the Arts and Heritage of our country. It is a time to combine theoretical learning with hands-on work, a time to appreciate the scientific processes that form an intricate part of our art forms. The students from all the grades work on arts-led learning based on science and social science themes. Every activity undertaken leads to some learning through different ways:
•Learning by doing: Explore and experience working with their hands and bodies.
•Learning by exposure: Meeting practitioners from different fields in an arts-intense atmosphere, have discussions and workshops.
•Learning by chance: Displays around the school to reflect heritage arts and crafts, discuss their origins and what we know about their history and development, including their contemporary circumstances.
