At Kindergarten, with the surge of language and expression, the children graduate to the next level of reading and engagement with books. The children were asked, “You read so many books by different authors, would you like to be an author too?” It was met with great enthusiasm by the children. Hence, was born a project where each child at Kindergarten was involved in making of a storybook.
From the costumes of the characters to the colour scheme of caricatures to each word in the storybook was a result of many deliberations, word blasts and brainstorming.

In an earnest attempt to further develop the critical thinking skills of our children and relate their everyday lives to their immediate surroundings and environment, we involved our children in the Mango Fest on Friday, July 5, 2019. The children explored through their senses and experiences and enhanced their awareness about mangoes and their varieties.
The day commenced with a special Musical Assembly, Sargam, and a role play by the Early Years facilitators. The children saw and also explored through their senses the different varieties of mangoes and sang the special ‘Mango’ song.
Nursery and Kindergarten children visited the ‘Mango Mart’ which was set up in the Activity Centre. For Kindergarten children, the activity was integrated with Math and they bought mangoes from the mango seller in exchange of jodo- blocks. The Nursery children made a craft related to mango which also enhanced their fine motor skills. The children enthusiastically participated in preparing the delicious ‘Mango Delight’ and relished it along with their peers and facilitators.
The Year 1 children compared quantities, discussed the qualities of mangoes and reflected in their notebooks. They compared the taste of raw and ripe mangoes. They ate the ripe mangoes as dessert during lunch and observed their facilitators prepare a sweet and sour mango pickle with the raw mangoes.
