Shiv Nadar School Culminates Ability Week with Open Forum on “Inclusion in the New Normal”

Shiv Nadar School Noida celebrated a week of solidarity, the Ability Week from 1st to 4th December 2020. Celebrated every year, this week gives a platform to all engaged stakeholders to work together in finding and implementing solutions to calibrate the recognition and inclusion in mainstream homerooms. This year’s theme, where the students and teachers participated vociferously, had an overarching focus on “Inclusion – In the New Normal” that significantly impacts the lives of our children with special abilities.

The Ability Week culminated through an open forum addressing the queries of parents, educators and guests. The panel consisted of esteemed professionals working in the field of Special Education Needs and Counselling from prestigious schools across the NCR and abroad.

The rationales discussed on the Open Forum ranged from providing opportunities to stakeholders in discussing perspectives on the prevention and control of reparations during this pandemic phase; understand expectations, roles and contributions of the different stakeholders in support of children with special abilities; update knowledge and share experience on progress of technology and other resources in this new inclusion; promote ways of accelerating the implementation of actions for better learning.

The session was attended by parents, staff members of Shiv Nadar School Noida, Faridabad & Gurgaon along with staff members of several other schools.

That’s What Classmates Do – Digital Empowerment Programme (Parent led Initiative)

Strengthening the Spirit of Inclusion in times of Connected Learning

The Shiv Nadar School is committed to the creation of an equitable and inclusion based society by empowering individuals to bridge the socio-economic divide. Aligned with this school's philosophy, the parents of Shiv Nadar School Noida came forward and initiated the campaign ‘That’s what Classmates Do’. The campaign was for our neighbourhood students, to continue their learning through online classes just like their classmates.

The aim of this initiative was not to leave any child behind. The parent community, our staff and The Siv Nadar Foundation came together and contributed devices for the connected learning programme. These devices were handed over to the neighbourhood children to ensure they have access to a device and internet connection for an uninterrupted attendance, learning and equal opportunity.

Workshop- Service as Action Day- Grade -9- April 27th’18

Our four students from grade 9 visited DPSI Gurgaon on  Friday, April 27, 2018 to observe their  'Service as Action Day‘.

Service as Action is an integral part of the IB MYP curriculum. their students at DPSI have dedicated their thoughts, time and effort to successfully complete their self-initiated projects and make useful contributions to the community, while meeting their own individual learning objectives.

Our students witnessed this journey shared by their students through a display of their project work. This was a great opportunity for students to interact informally and exchange ideas and learning.

Cherished Moments - Guardian’s Day

The Early Years' Father’s / Guardian’s Day celebration was a heartwarming event that beautifully honored the unique relationship between fathers/guardians and their children. The day commenced with spirited activities like "Percussion" and "Team Building," actively involving parents. The children's performances, featuring songs, rhymes, and joyful dance routines, showcased their love and appreciation. A standout feature was the collaborative co-creation takeaway craft, which allowed fathers/guardians and children to share a creative bonding experience. Feedback from fathers/guardians, including Vishrut’s Father's anticipation, Maanvir’s Father's enthusiasm for drums and clay, and Suvana’s Father's joy in dancing with the kids, encapsulated the event's essence. This heartening celebration not only strengthened familial ties but also created lasting memories, fostering a strong sense of community within the Early Years' cohort.

KAAFILA 2020 GOES INTERNATIONAL IN IT’S NEW ONLINE AVATAR!

Shiv Nadar School Noida presents the first of its kind ‘Integrated Arts Festival - Kaafila 2020’. Kaafila brings together various art forms - theatre, music, dance and visual arts, in a heady amalgamation of vivid colours and snazzy beats to create something magical. Keeping with the tradition the students took responsibility for all the event planning, monitoring, online collaboration platforms, website designing, crowd funding the festival, artist engagements – truly an event by the students, for the students!

The theme of this year’s online Art Festival was ‘Freedom’, which went international and saw participation from schools across the globe. The three-day extravaganza events were categorised under the headings compete, collaborate and witness. Kaafila 2020 in its shiny new online avatar explored the possibilities of collaborative pieces beyond geographical boundaries, presenting artistic works under its central theme ‘Freedom’. There were conversations with artists from different fields to reimagine possibilities, recognising that Art transcends all limitations.

The Kaafila website also hosted Arts Haat, an online Art market to support artists from across India giving them a platform to have direct access with the buyers.

The “Protean” tour

The "Protean" tour

International exposure and good mentoring go a long way in shaping the budding talent of our young cricketers into tomorrow’s professionals. In our student version of the “joint military exercises”, we sent a team of 12 players under the tutelage of 2 teachers to learn and maybe teach a thing or two to the Proteas.

The Proteas or The South African Cricket Team is a team to reckon with. Their student version lived up to that repute, but our “Pride” were no less. Despite the tough competition, of the 8 matches played we won 6! The feather in the Shiv Nadar School cap was the stupendous achievement of playing matches of 40 overs. A feat applauded by the hosts and their mentors too. The hosts were represented by 4 prominent schools and 2 clubs, KZN and Chatsworth Club.

Chatsworth Club is famous for its star player AB DeVillers, a cricketing legend.

Team Shiv Nadar School was mentored by the current Director of South African Cricket Board Mr. Shaun Warner and CSA level 2 coach Mr Craig Yelverton from Ireland.

Along with the honour of playing with worthy opponents, our students also won some distinguishments, like T-shirts and caps.

Aarav Desai scored 2 centuries against The Hillcrest High School and a half-century against Chatsworth club

Sanket Agarwal scored a hattrick against Winterton Primary School.

Krishang Sehrawat earned the best wicketkeeping cap.

Siddhanth Biswal, at 11years, was the youngest player across all the teams.

Aryan Vadera scored 225 runs and took 2 wickets.

Soham Dawar scored 135 runs and took 8 wickets.

The culmination of the fortnight visit to Durban, South Africa, was the chance to play at the Oval at Petersburg, the 2003 world cup final stadium. The grand finale match was against a team of senior players, some of whom play at County level, our boys stood up to the challenge and were victorious.

All work (play) and no sightseeing would leave the tour incomplete, on their way back from Durban to Johannesburg the teams visited the Oshaka Beach jungle safari and Dolphin show. An apt end to a successful tour.
