Former ISRO Scientists Inspire Young Minds at Shiv Nadar School

On 27th January, Shiv Nadar School Faridabad had the distinct honor of hosting former ISRO scientists for an engaging and insightful session with selected students from Grades 7 to 11. This session was a key highlight of the Space Tech Internship Program, a three-month-long initiative organized in collaboration with ISRO and Teen Interns (I Love Mondays).

Building on their learning from a series of online sessions, students explored the fundamentals of rocket science and assembled 1:25 scale Aditya L1 DIY kits to gain a deeper understanding of satellite design and engineering principles.

Distinguished Scientists Who Graced the Event:

  • Dr. Brinda V – Outstanding Scientist & Former Director, ISRO; Professor, Satish Dhawan Scientist, ISRO HQ.
  • Dr. Venkatakrishnan – Distinguished Scientist & Former Director, ISRO; Professor of Practice, IIT Madras; Advisor, Agnikul Cosmos.
  • Mr. S. Hiriyanna – Senior Scientist & Former Group Head, ISRO; Engineer, Mentor, and Recipient of the Aryabhata Award.

Hands-On Learning with ISRO Experts

The event was an interactive experience where students participated in a rocket-building activity under the mentorship of these esteemed scientists. This session encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation by allowing students to experiment, modify designs in real time, and discuss key aerospace concepts such as:

  • The role of fins in stability and flight control.
  • The effect of the center of gravity on propulsion and launch angles.
  • Aerodynamic stability in satellite and rocket design.

Beyond the technical knowledge, students learned from both successful and not-so-successful designs, fostering a growth mindset and problem-solving skills.

Excitement Across Campus

Adding to the energy of the event, students from Grades 5 and 6 joined as an enthusiastic audience, eagerly counting down and cheering during rocket launches. Their excitement brought a new dimension to the learning experience, making it a truly memorable moment for the entire school.

A Commitment to Scientific Exploration

This event reaffirmed Shiv Nadar School’s commitment to providing students with unparalleled exposure to scientific research, hands-on experimentation, and mentorship from industry experts. By engaging with leaders from India’s premier space research organization, our students were inspired to think like future aerospace engineers, making strides toward careers in STEM and beyond.

Sports Day (EY1 to PY2): A Celebration of Energy, Team Spirit, and Fun!

The much-awaited Sports Day for our EY1 to PY2 students was nothing short of spectacular! The field buzzed with laughter, excitement, and boundless energy as our young athletes took on a variety of fun-filled challenges, displaying determination, teamwork, and a true love for movement. From relay races and sprints to engaging obstacle courses, each event was designed to encourage participation, build confidence, and most importantly—create joyful memories.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was the march around the field, where our little champions proudly walked alongside their School Pupil Leaders, waving to their cheering families and showcasing their team spirit. The energy was contagious as students cheered for their peers, celebrating every effort and every little victory.

But it wasn’t just the students who took center stage—the event became even more special with the participation of enthusiastic parents! The Parent Races, including the much-loved Marble Race, added an extra layer of fun and camaraderie, as families joined in the excitement, making for unforgettable moments of laughter, encouragement, and friendly competition.

Beyond the races and games, the day was a reminder of the importance of staying active, embracing teamwork, and enjoying the spirit of healthy competition. It was incredible to see our young athletes give it their all, proving that sports is not just about winning—it’s about participation, perseverance, and enjoying the journey.

Kudos to our incredible students for their enthusiasm, our dedicated teachers for their guidance, and our wonderful parents for their unwavering support. Together, we made this Sports Day a true celebration of movement, teamwork, and shared happiness!
