Grade 9 Field Trip to the National Science Museum: An Interdisciplinary Exploration

 

On 19th December 2024, Grade 9 students from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad embarked on an inspiring educational field trip to the National Science Museum, combining the realms of literature and science in an interdisciplinary learning experience. Organized collaboratively by the Hindi and Science departments, the trip aimed to connect the Hindi chapter "Vaigyanik Chetna ke Vaahak" with real-world scientific exploration. This innovative approach emphasized the significance of scientific temperament in shaping human progress, both in literature and practical life.

Highlights of the Field Trip

  1. Immersive "Space on Sphere" Experience
    The day began with the SOS (Space on Sphere) show, an engaging visual presentation about space and its planets. Students were taken on a mesmerizing journey through the universe, which inspired curiosity, encouraged critical thinking, and nurtured a deeper interest in astronomy and space sciences.
  2. Exploring the Museum’s Interactive Galleries
    The students explored a variety of galleries and exhibits, which offered hands-on learning experiences:
    • Dinosaur Gallery: A fascinating dive into the prehistoric era, bringing the world of dinosaurs to life.
    • Information Revolution Gallery: Highlighting technological advancements that have revolutionized human communication.
    • Energy Gallery: Exploring renewable and non-renewable energy sources through interactive displays and experiments.
    • Fun Science Section: Featuring engaging models and experiments that explained everyday scientific phenomena in exciting ways.
    • Human Biology Gallery: Captivating exhibits on human anatomy and body functions, sparking interest in biology and health sciences.
  3. Interactive Learning and Experiments
    Students particularly enjoyed experimenting with optical illusions, solving science-based puzzles, and engaging with hands-on models. These activities combined fun and learning, making complex scientific principles more relatable and enjoyable.

Our school observed Bal Veer Divas on 26th December 2024, commemorating the courage and sacrifice of Baba Fateh Singh Ji and Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru.

To honor their bravery and dedication, students participated in activities such as debates, poetry recitations, declamation contests, and painting competitions. These activities highlighted the values of faith, freedom, and justice exemplified by the Sahibzadas.

The day served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of selflessness and courage for our students.

Gurtej Singh, student of Class 9 Kanha, has been selected to represent the Haryana Under-16 Cricket Team in the Vijay Merchant Trophy Season 2024-25. This tournament will take place in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, starting from 6th December 2024.

Gurtej's dedication to the sport, coupled with his relentless efforts and perseverance, has earned him this incredible opportunity to showcase his skills on a state-level platform. His achievement is a testament to his hard work and passion for cricket, as well as the unwavering support from his family, coaches, and the Shiv Nadar School community.

This 12-week global stock market competition was organized by Harvard Student Agencies, bringing together over 100 teams from around the world.

The duo demonstrated exceptional strategic trading and portfolio management skills, navigating real-world financial challenges with precision and teamwork. Their outstanding performance earned them a certificate and a cash prize of USD 200, showcasing their ability to excel under pressure while applying critical financial principles.

Ruhaan participated in the 7th Maharathi Rapid Chess Tournament on Saturday, 7th December 2024, showcasing his exceptional strategic skills. Competing in the Under-7 category, he secured an impressive 4th position. His efforts were recognized with a medal and a cash prize of ₹1300.

Football Glory

On Sunday, 8th December 2024, Ruhaan, along with his team from Manav Rachna Sports Academy, played the final match of a 5-week football league. The team qualified for the Silver Cup after winning 6 out of 7 matches and emerged victorious in the finals. Ruhaan's stellar performance earned him:

  • A medal for his team's victory.
  • A trophy for "Best Striker", acknowledging his remarkable goal-scoring abilities and leadership on the field.

Shiv Nadar School Faridabad Celebrates Iha Joshi’s Remarkable Achievements in SGFI National Tennis Championship

The recently concluded 68th SGFI National Tennis Girls Under-17 Championship brought immense pride to Shiv Nadar School Faridabad, as Grade 8 Corbett student Iha Joshi represented Haryana State in this prestigious tournament. Hosted by Mayo College, Ajmer, from December 4 to 8, 2024, the championship witnessed the participation of 106 players from 22 States and Union Territories.

In the team event, Haryana State secured 4th Position, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. The Haryana team triumphed over teams from Chandigarh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu before falling to Karnataka in the semi-finals in a nail-biting match.

Iha Joshi was one of the two key players who represented Haryana in all matches during the Nationals. Her contribution was pivotal in the team’s impressive performance.

At just 13 years old, Iha has already established herself as a rising star in tennis:

  • Gold Medalist: Haryana State SGFI Tournament, Panchkula (2024)
  • Gold Medalist: Haryana State SGFI Tournament (2023)
  • Silver Medalist: Haryana State SGFI Tournament (2022)
  • AITA Achievements: Winner of multiple tournaments in Under-14 and Under-16 categories

Iha was also one of the youngest participants in the Nationals, showcasing remarkable poise and skill against older, more experienced players. Her consistent performance at SGFI tournaments and AITA events underscores her dedication and potential.
