Exploring India’s Artistic Heritage: SNS Students Visit the National Craft Museum

A group of Grade 11 and 12 students from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, accompanied by teacher Mr. Abhinav Yagnik, visited the National Craft Museum as part of an educational initiative to deepen their understanding of Indian art and heritage. The objective was to help students appreciate the aesthetics of artifacts, connect personally with various art forms, and develop a critical perspective towards historical crafts.

The visit began with a guided tour covering the Indus Valley Civilization, Mauryan Art, Gupta Art, and the Miniature Painting section. Students then had the opportunity to explore the museum independently, engaging with the Ivory, Metal, and Coin sections. Throughout the visit, they actively documented their experiences through photography.

Students will now translate their observations and insights into presentations, reflecting on different folk art forms across mediums and timelines. This enriching experience helped bridge classroom learning with cultural history, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s artistic legacy and complementing the vibrant learning culture at Shiv Nadar School.

Celebrating Family Day in Early Years

The Early Years at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad celebrated Family Day with warmth and joy, honouring the invaluable role families—and especially fathers—play in a child’s life.

The day unfolded with cheerful songs, rhymes, and energetic music and movement activities, as children welcomed their fathers and family members with excitement. A series of fun, interactive games encouraged laughter, bonding, and shared experiences, creating a joyful atmosphere.

A collaborative craft session followed, where children and their fathers worked side by side to create a special memento—one that symbolised love, partnership, and treasured moments together. Adding flavour to the celebration was a fire-free cooking activity, where fathers and children teamed up to prepare simple treats. This hands-on experience brought out creativity, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.

The celebration concluded on a heartwarming note—with hugs, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime. It was a beautiful reminder of the strength of family ties and a special tribute to fathers, whose presence made the day all the more meaningful.

Grade 1 Field Trip: Movie Outing – Paddington in Peru

To make learning joyful and immersive, the Grade 1 learners of Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad went on a movie outing to watch Paddington in Peru on 15th July at the Mall of Faridabad. In the days leading up to the trip, students were introduced to the country of Peru, the Amazon rainforest, and its vibrant wildlife through interactive discussions and visual storytelling.

The children were thrilled to watch Paddington’s adventurous journey come alive on the big screen. They were attentive, cheerful, and thoroughly enjoyed the cinematic experience with their peers.

Back at school, they reflected on the outing through a post-trip activity where they illustrated and wrote about their favourite parts of the movie. This thoughtful integration of exploration, learning, and reflection made for a truly memorable and enriching experience at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad.

Grade 1 Learning Walk: Exploring Habitats of the World

At Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom—and the recent Grade 1 Learning Walk on Habitats of the World was a beautiful testament to this belief.

Over the summer break, our young learners took on the role of curious researchers, each delving into a habitat of their choice—be it the vast deserts, deep oceans, dense forests, or icy polar regions. With wonder in their eyes and questions in their minds, they explored these environments, gathering fascinating facts about the unique flora and fauna that call these places home.

What emerged from this exploration were creative, thoughtfully crafted projects—colorful scrapbooks, detailed drawings, and imaginative 3D models—that reflected not only their growing knowledge, but also their individual expression and effort.

The school corridors transformed into a vibrant gallery of habitats. As part of the Learning Walk, students visited each other’s displays, engaging in meaningful conversations, asking questions, and discovering new insights through peer learning. It was a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

This experience was more than just a display of projects—it was a moment where children became teachers, learners, and storytellers, inspiring one another and deepening their connection with the world around them.

Shabadshaala: Where Music Meets Meaning

The Shabadshaala event at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad once again proved to be a soulful and transformative experience—an integral part of the AHA Arts Learning journey. Conducted under the banner of Project Kabir, this unique program brought alive the timeless wisdom of Bhakti and Sufi poetry through the rich traditions of folk music, oral storytelling, and reflective dialogue.

Over two immersive days, a mandali of Baul singers engaged students from Grades 5 to 8, guiding them through the evocative verses of Kabir, Bulleh Shah, and other mystic saints. These sessions invited students to reflect on universal themes of love, unity, truth, and inner awakening—using music not merely as performance, but as a profound way of being.

The Baul mandali created a vibrant and safe space for collective singing, open conversation, and personal contemplation. Students experienced how poetic expression can deepen empathy, nurture active listening, and connect them to India’s rich cultural and philosophical heritage.

Adding depth to the experience was the presence of Lokhan Das ji, a revered figure in the Baul tradition of Bengal. His spiritual presence and soulful renditions left an indelible mark on the hearts of all present.

Shabadshaala stood as a reminder that the arts are not just extracurricular—they are essential pathways to self-awareness, community, and meaning. It was a celebration where learning resonated from the heart just as deeply as it did from the mind.
