Nurturing Young Leaders Through the Junior Student Council at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad

The Junior Student Council journey at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad for learners of Grades 3 to 5 commenced with great enthusiasm and active student participation. As one of the school’s significant student leadership initiatives, the process aimed at nurturing leadership qualities, strengthening collaborative skills, building confidence, and instilling a strong sense of responsibility among young learners.

The journey began with students nominating themselves for various leadership roles such as School Captain, House Captains, Vice House Captains, Literary Incharges, and Class Prefects. As part of the process, learners reflected on their strengths, values, and leadership potential through a self assessment exercise where they evaluated themselves on the core values upheld by Shiv Nadar School Faridabad.

Following the nomination stage, shortlisted candidates participated in a Group Discussion round where they engaged in thoughtful conversations around relatable and age appropriate topics. The activity provided students with an opportunity to showcase leadership qualities, communication skills, confidence, clarity of thought, active listening, and respect for diverse opinions. The process encouraged learners to articulate their ideas meaningfully while understanding the importance of empathy, teamwork, and collaboration in leadership roles.

The campaigning phase brought immense energy and excitement to the Primary Years corridors as candidates confidently presented their ideas, aspirations, and plans for the school community. Supported by classmates and peers, students participated in speeches and interactions that further strengthened their presentation and public speaking skills. Through the election process, learners experienced the spirit of democracy firsthand and understood the values of fairness, equality, student voice, and responsible participation.

The culmination of this enriching journey was the grand Investiture Ceremony held on 15th May, where the newly elected members of the Junior Student Council were formally vested with their responsibilities. The ceremony began with a warm welcome by the student anchors, followed by a melodious presentation by the school choir that added grace to the occasion. Parents, teachers, and students gathered together to witness the formal induction of the student leaders.

The highlight of the ceremony was the solemn oath taking, where the newly elected council members pledged to uphold the values of the school and discharge their duties with sincerity, integrity, and commitment. The student leaders were presented with badges and sashes symbolising the trust and responsibility entrusted to them by the school community. Standing with confidence and pride, the students embraced their new roles as young leaders and role models for their peers.

The Junior Student Council journey and Investiture Ceremony together reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing confident, empathetic, responsible, and socially aware learners. The initiative not only celebrated democratic participation and student leadership but encouraged children to become thoughtful contributors to their school community and active citizens of tomorrow.

Celebrating the Timeless Stories of Ruskin Bond at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad

At Shiv Nadar School Faridabad, fostering a strong reading culture remains an integral part of the learning journey across grades. As part of this commitment towards nurturing lifelong readers and thoughtful communicators, Grades 3 to 5 recently observed a special literary celebration to mark the birthday of Ruskin Bond, one of India’s most loved children’s authors.

The celebration was designed to encourage learners to engage deeply with literature while appreciating the immense contribution of Ruskin Bond to children’s storytelling. Through his timeless stories, students explored themes of simplicity, warmth, humour, nature, friendship, and human connection, helping them build meaningful relationships with books and reading.

They shared summaries, favourite characters, memorable moments, and thoughtful reflections on why others should explore these stories as well.

The interactive classroom discussions created an atmosphere of joyful reading, curiosity, and literary exchange. Learners not only discovered new stories and perspectives but further strengthened their communication, presentation, listening, and critical thinking skills through peer sharing and collaborative discussions.

The initiative reflected the school’s larger vision of cultivating a vibrant reading culture where literature becomes a gateway to imagination, empathy, creativity, and expression. By creating regular opportunities for learners to engage with authors, stories, and meaningful conversations around books, Shiv Nadar School Faridabad continues to inspire young readers to develop a lifelong love for reading and storytelling.
