Since forty-nine years, Earth Day continues to bind people together to lead groundbreaking ideas. Earth Day continues to challenge ideas, ignite passion, inspire and motivate people to act mindfully. Though Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year, it entails action for the whole year. Keeping this passion in their hearts, students of grades 2 to 5 started with their special assembly on 18th April. It started with a prayer, followed by an inspiring thought by a student of grade 5. To update everyone with the happenings around the world, the news was read out followed by sharing of facts on ‘Earth Day’. Grade 2 students sang a meaningful and inspiring song. The final leg of the assembly held a surprise quiz by Grade 5 students which was followed by a Hindi poem, English poem, and a pledge. The assembly concluded with the national anthem.
As a part of building their understanding about the theme for this year's Wild Wisdom Quiz, students went to WWF auditorium, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi for an official screening of first episode of Netflix series, ‘Our Planet’. Apart from our school, there were representatives of few reputed Delhi based schools like Manav Sthali School, Springdale School.
Students learnt about the biomes of Earth and the flora and fauna which flourishes in these biomes. The video was not only knowledge gaining but also reflecting as to how this flourishing species of flora and fauna is diminishing and in turn our planet is being affected due to human intervention. Students made notes and also participated in the quiz based on the episode. Few of our students won bookmarks for giving correct answers to the questions.

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, comfort, lessons in life and most importantly, cookies.” -- Rudy Giuliani
The Pre-primary students at Shiv Nadar School celebrated Grandparents’ Day with great enthusiasm. The celebration was held on 6th September 2019.
The day began with the special performances by our kids for their grandparents, followed by breakfast in dining area. The children were eagerly waiting to spend some time with their grandparents in the Homeroom. They played the game passing the parcel wherein all the grandparents enthusiastically participated and enjoyed playing games with their grandchildren, shared heartwarming stories and sang cheerful melodies.
The day ended with craft co-creation by students and their grandparents. They created beautiful pieces of art using their fingerprints and handprints. In all it was a delight to see the grandparents and children enjoying their time together.
