Tasting of Stories: Discovering the Reader Within
A first-of-its-kind reading experience for parents and children
On 11 September 2026, the Junior Library at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad hosted its first-ever Parent–Child Book Tasting Experience for our Primary Years learners. Much like sampling dishes at a tasting menu, a book tasting invites readers to dip into a range of books, get a flavour of each, and discover what truly appeals to them.
The 45-minute session gave parents and children the chance to explore a wide variety of books and genres together. Children were encouraged to follow their curiosity, sample different story worlds, and reflect on an important question: "What kind of a reader am I, and which genre excites me the most?"
It was heartwarming to see parents and children leafing through pages side by side, sharing reactions and discovering new favourites together. The event fostered meaningful parent–child engagement and celebrated the joy of reading, while helping each child take a step closer to understanding their own reading interests.
