Student Council 2026–27: Nurturing Leadership Through Voice, Choice, and Service
The Investiture Ceremony for the newly elected student council for the academic year 2026-27 was held on 5th August 2026.
The selection process for the Student Council 2026–27 was designed to provide learners with an authentic experience of leadership while identifying students who demonstrated responsibility, integrity, preparedness, and a commitment to serving the school community.
Aligned with the IB philosophy of developing principled, caring, and reflective individuals, the process began with student nominations, encouraging learners to step forward and express their willingness to take on leadership responsibilities. Candidates then participated in a written assessment that provided insight into their understanding of the role, their ideas for the school community, and their readiness to lead with purpose.
The shortlisted candidates progressed to panel interviews with teachers, specialists and the counselling team. Through these conversations, learners shared their values, leadership perspectives, aspirations, and approaches to creating a positive impact within the school community.
The final stage brought leadership into action as candidates presented their vision to the wider school community through speeches and campaigns. Students from PY5 to MY4, along with members of the teaching community, participated in the voting process, giving learners a meaningful opportunity to experience democratic decision-making and understand the responsibility that comes with representing their peers.
The newly elected Student Council 2026–27 was formally recognised through an investiture ceremony, marking the beginning of their leadership journey. The ceremony celebrated the commitment, enthusiasm, and courage demonstrated by all students who stepped forward to participate in the process.
Adding a special sense of continuity to the occasion, the outgoing Student Leaders shared heartfelt messages with their successors, reflecting on their own leadership experiences and offering words of encouragement and guidance. Their reflections highlighted that true leadership extends beyond a position or title — it is built on empathy, collaboration, responsibility, and a commitment to serving others. Their warm congratulations to the newly appointed leaders symbolised the passing of the baton and the continuation of a strong culture of student leadership within the school.
As the new leaders received their badges, they embraced the responsibility of becoming role models and active contributors to the school community. They were encouraged to lead with integrity, listen with empathy, and use their voices to create meaningful impact.
Beyond the outcome of the elections, the entire process became a valuable learning experience, nurturing confidence, communication, reflection, and learner agency. The Student Council 2026–27 will now carry forward their ideas and commitments, working collaboratively to contribute to the school community in alignment with the school’s vision and mission.
