STEAMphony 2026: The Mind-Body Symphony
STEAMphony 2026, hosted by Shiv Nadar School, Chennai, brought together young innovators from across Chennai to explore the powerful intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) through the lens of UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
With the theme “The Mind-Body Symphony,” this year’s edition encouraged students to explore the connection between knowing and doing when it comes to healthy living. Learners examined how science-backed insights around physical health, nutrition, mental well-being, digital balance, emotional resilience, public health, and health equity can be transformed into meaningful solutions that influence everyday choices and create positive change.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from 10 schools and over 150 students from Grades 6–10, who engaged in a series of interdisciplinary challenges inspired by the concept of “Guerrilla Science” — science that moves beyond laboratories and enters real-world spaces to create awareness, inspire action, and drive behavioural change.
Moving beyond conventional science competitions focused solely on invention, STEAMphony 2026 challenged students to think as scientists, designers, communicators, and changemakers. Participants were encouraged to develop solutions grounded in:
- Scientific research and understanding
- Creativity and innovation
- Empathy and persuasion
- Real-world relevance and measurable impact
The Overall Championship Trophy was awarded to Heartfulness Omega International School, whose students demonstrated exceptional creativity, collaboration, and application of scientific thinking.
A special highlight of the event was the role played by Shiv Nadar School, Chennai students, who stepped into the role of hosts and ambassadors, taking ownership of the entire guest experience. From designing corridor experiences and welcoming visiting teams to escorting participants, coordinating logistics, supporting judges, and anchoring sessions as Masters of Ceremony, our students demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and collaboration.
Their contribution reflected the essence of experiential learning — where students move beyond being participants to becoming creators, leaders, and facilitators of meaningful experiences.
STEAMphony 2026 was a celebration of curiosity with purpose. It reinforced the belief that education is not only about understanding the world but also about empowering learners to shape a healthier, more inclusive, and sustainable future.
Ideas create impact when they move beyond thought and inspire action — and STEAMphony 2026 was a powerful reflection of that belief.
