A Morning of Many Hats: Author Visit for Nursery and KG
On the morning of 1st September 2026, the Amphitheater at South Block of Shiv Nadar School Faridabad was filled with curious eyes and eager smiles as our Nursery and Kindergarten learners gathered for a special Author Interaction Session. At 9:20 a.m., they welcomed children's author Ms. Swati Daftuar, who brought along her delightful book, Maya's Many Hats, and a warmth that instantly put our youngest readers at ease.
At Shiv Nadar School, we believe that a love for reading begins long before a child learns to read on their own. It grows through stories shared aloud, through pictures that spark questions, and through moments when a book feels like a friend. Author visits like this one are a cherished part of our reading culture, giving children the rare joy of meeting the person behind the story and discovering that books are made by real people with real imaginations, just like their own.
Through a lively read-aloud and gentle conversation, Ms. Daftuar introduced the children to Maya, a little girl with a big imagination. Maya dreams of being many things: a doctor caring for others, an astronaut exploring the stars, a builder creating new things, and a cricketer on the field. As the story unfolded, the children listened closely, and many began to wonder aloud about the roles they might one day take on. It was a lovely reminder that childhood is a time to dream freely, and that every child carries within them a world of possibilities.
The story then came to life in the most joyful way. Learners were invited to design and create their own hats, guided by a simple yet thoughtful question: "Which hat would you like to be?" Little hands got busy with colours and ideas, and each hat that emerged was as unique as the child who made it. Some reflected dreams of helping people, others of adventure and discovery, and all of them were full of heart. Watching the children proudly share their creations was truly one of the highlights of the morning.
The session was a meaningful and enriching experience that nurtured a love for stories, encouraged self-expression, and allowed our young learners to imagine who they might become.
