Joy of Sharing Week 2026
Rooted in the vision and values of our Founder, Mr. Shiv Nadar, Joy of Sharing Week 2026 invited the Shiv Nadar School, Chennai community to experience generosity not merely as an act of giving, but as a way of learning, leading, and serving. More than an annual celebration, the week became a meaningful expression of the school's belief that education acquires its deepest purpose when it nurtures empathy, responsibility, and the confidence to create positive change.
The week opened with a special assembly that celebrated Mr. Shiv Nadar's remarkable journey and enduring contribution to education, philanthropy, innovation, and nation-building. Through carefully curated videos, a student-created tribute, and reflective conversations, learners explored the values of perseverance, purposeful leadership, and the transformative power of education. These ideas continued to unfold through Circle Time sessions across the Early Years, Primary Years Programme, and Middle Years Programme, where learners reflected on kindness, gratitude, resilience, empathy, and service. The Ripple of Impact activity encouraged every student to consider how individual choices can influence the lives of others, reinforcing the understanding that meaningful change often begins with the simplest acts of kindness.
Reflection soon found its fullest expression through action. Families contributed books, puzzles, board games, toys, and art materials as part of a community collection drive that promoted both sustainability and educational opportunity. Across the school, students transformed their creativity into purposeful service by designing games, activity stalls, handcrafted gifts, greeting cards, magnets, artwork, baked goods, granola bars, and a range of products that demonstrated how individual talents can become meaningful contributions to the community.
Extending well beyond the classroom, the initiative embraced every member of the school community. Support staff came together for a special appreciation gathering that celebrated Mr. Shiv Nadar's philanthropic vision and enduring legacy, while parents partnered actively with the school throughout the week, reinforcing the shared responsibility of nurturing compassionate, socially conscious young people. Together, these experiences illustrated that community impact is most meaningful when schools and families work alongside one another with a common purpose.
The celebrations reached their culmination in the Joy of Sharing Fête, which welcomed over 2,000 members of the school community to a vibrant campus animated by creativity, collaboration, and generosity. Student-led games, interactive activities, engaging performances, and opportunities for families to connect transformed the school into a joyful space where service and celebration existed hand in hand.
Central to the success of the fête were the Middle School and PY5 learners, whose leadership, initiative, and sense of ownership shaped the event into a truly student-driven experience. Planning, organising, and managing a wide range of activities with confidence and enthusiasm, they demonstrated how authentic opportunities for service cultivate responsibility, collaboration, and learner agency while empowering young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
The spirit of partnership was further enriched through the participation of 11 parent entrepreneurs, who presented an inspiring range of products, including homemade delicacies, handcrafted stationery, pet food, artisanal creations, and lifestyle products. Their involvement strengthened the connection between home and school, illustrating the collective impact that emerges when families and educators work together in pursuit of a shared purpose.
The proceeds from the fête will support deserving charitable initiatives, particularly educational institutions serving under-resourced communities, extending the impact of the celebration far beyond the school campus and reaffirming the community's shared commitment to educational equity.
