AI: Friend or Foe? Students Explore the Frontiers of Thinking and Technology

On January 21, 2026, Shiv Nadar School hosted Grade 8 students in an insightful online Round Square Post Card Event titled "AI: Friend or Foe?" Under the guidance of Teacher Coordinator Ms. Shreeja Singh, participants engaged in a dynamic Baraza-style debate to evaluate the role of artificial intelligence in modern education.

Students raised philosophical questions about cognitive independence, creatively comparing over-reliance on AI to a Harry Potter "horcrux"—warning that defaulting to technology might diminish individual voice, original thinking, and critical analysis. However, the event concluded on a balanced note: recognizing AI's potential as a valuable supporting tool when used responsibly, while holding human curiosity and independent reasoning firmly at the core of learning.
