PYP Exhibition 2024-25

The PYP Exhibition at Shiv Nadar School, Chennai was a remarkable celebration of learning, creativity, and action, marking the culmination of the Primary Years Programme journey as a candidate school. This significant milestone showcased the skills, knowledge, and innovative thinking of our students as they collaboratively explored real-world issues through in-depth inquiry.

Themed around Sharing the Planet - Sustainability, the exhibition featured impactful projects such as drip water irrigation systems promoting efficient water usage, upcycling used clothes into new products to encourage sustainable fashion, and eco-friendly dyes and block printing stations highlighting traditional, low-impact practices. Students also tackled the issue of climate change, inspiring conversations on environmental responsibility and the need for conscious action.

The exhibition process was a true demonstration of student agency, with learners taking ownership of their inquiry—from identifying key issues to developing meaningful solutions. Throughout their journey, they honed essential 21st-century skills, including research, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

To achieve this, the students worked for weeks, collecting data through surveys, listening to guest lectures, meeting industry experts, and collaborating with their mentors and peers. Their dedication and teamwork were evident in the depth and creativity of their projects.

As parents and guests walked through the exhibition, they were filled with awe at the students' remarkable progress and creativity. The event also inspired younger students, who looked up to their older peers with admiration and aspiration, sparking a love for inquiry and exploration.

The PYP Exhibition was not just a display of projects—it was a powerful reflection of our students' commitment to lifelong learning, their ability to take meaningful action, and their desire to make a positive impact on the world.

Anandam 2024 - The Truth Unmasked: A Fight Against Fake News

In a world flooded with misinformation, rumors, and manipulated narratives, The Truth Unmasked: A Fight Against Fake News brought the pressing issue of fake news to the stage as part of Anandam 2024. Students from Grades PY3 to MY2 took center stage in this thought-provoking production, engaging in deep inquiry, critical thinking, and reflective discussions on the consequences of unchecked information and the search for truth.

With a mix of humor, satire, and compelling storytelling, the plays Pandemonium in Pipal Nagar and Scandal in Fairyland offered an insightful take on how rumors spread and how media can shape perceptions. Pandemonium in Pipal Nagar, inspired by Ruskin Bond’s short story The Boy Who Broke the Bank, highlighted the ripple effect of misinformation in a small town, demonstrating how words can spark chaos. Meanwhile, Scandal in Fairyland, adapted from the works of renowned playwright Badal Sircar, examined how false narratives manipulate public opinion, urging audiences to question the truth they consume.

This production was more than just a theatrical showcase—it was an exercise in critical inquiry and responsible citizenship. Students actively explored the role of media, the impact of misinformation, and ethical responsibilities in the digital age. They developed communication skills, expressing complex ideas through performance; open-mindedness, by engaging with different perspectives on media influence; and reflective thinking, as they examined their role in discerning truth from fiction.

Through powerful performances, students delved into the complexities of modern-day media, raising essential questions—Who controls the truth? How easily do we fall for misinformation? And most importantly, how do we fight back against the tide of fake news?

By using theater as a medium for social commentary, The Truth Unmasked served as a reminder that truth must be sought, defended, and upheld—now more than ever. It was a testament to how education fosters informed, principled, and critically aware individuals who are ready to navigate an increasingly complex world.
