Colloquium 2018-19
Colloquium acts as a platform to display the best of the yearlong projects which students have been working as part of their Integrated Technology/ IT curriculum. It is the time when ideas incubated in school are synergized with the actual world outside. We believe that this is the place where future entrepreneurs, social scientists, innovators and leaders emerge along with their innovative ideas.
Colloquium 2018 was held on 21st December 2018. Grade 10 students of Shiv Nadar School showcased their technology projects in teams of 5-6 member each. It gave students an opportunity to apply the technology skills learnt from Grade 7 to Grade 10 to solve a real world problem. The solution could be social or entrepreneurial in nature. The projects finally culminated as a product, presentation or performance.
The competition followed a two-tier selection process. While fifteen projects from both Shiv Nadar School, Noida and Gurugram were presented to the sub-jury, only seven made it to the final jury round. The jury comprised of Mr. Deep Kalra, Founder, Chairman and CEO, MakeMyTrip; Mr. Rajiv Makhni, India’s Tech Guru and Managing Editor of Technology, NDTV and Mr. Vineet Nayar, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Sampark Foundation.
The winner and the runner up teams were from Noida School. The team ‘Silverlane’ was declared the winner of this competition. It comprised of Romsha Singh, Archisha Arun, Aryaman Sinha, Arvind Raja, Rishit Dhyani and Shoumya Barua. The aim of their project is to make senior citizens self-reliant by designing a walker- cum-stepper. The winners were awarded with a visit to CERN (Geneva) and got an opportunity to attend a CERN masterclass workshop for 5 days. The idea of this visit was to ignite young minds towards the latest developments in science and technology.
The Team ‘Sophros’ secured the second position. It comprised of Arul Kumar, Arnav Sahni, Tanisha Arora, Aryan Sardana, Arshiya Nair and Aditya Singh. The aim of their project is to reduce the carbon footprint by eliminating CO2, PM 2.5 and VOCs using natural methods combined with technology. As a token of appreciation, the runner ups were given IPADs.
