The STEAM Conclave 2025 – A Cosmic Quest: Igniting Young Minds through Space Science and Interdisciplinary Learning

The STEAM Conclave 2025 – A Cosmic Quest, held in collaboration with IUCAA, was a dynamic celebration of space science and interdisciplinary learning for students from Grades 6 to 12. The event opened with a thematic dance on astrophysics, setting an inspiring tone for the day. Keynote addresses by Dr. Somak Raychaudhury and Mr. Hiriyanna S. sparked curiosity and deep thinking among students.

A major highlight was the Pitch Presentations by Grades 9–12, where students proposed innovative ideas for human settlement in space, impressing a panel of scientists and educators with their research, creativity, and confident delivery. For Grades 6–8, the Tatvabodha segment encouraged myth-busting through scientific reasoning, promoting critical thinking and a scientific mindset.

Hands-on workshops by IUCAA on spectroscopy, gravitational lenses, and black holes kept students actively engaged, turning complex theories into tangible learning experiences. The day was filled with exploration, excitement, and insightful dialogue, transforming classrooms into spaces of awe and discovery. The conclave showcased the immense potential of young learners and highlighted the value of interdisciplinary education in inspiring future innovators.

As part of the conclave, an engaging Astrophysics session was held on 20th May by Akshay Bhatia, a Shiv Nadar School alumnus and current Physics student at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Attended by Grade 11 Science and interested Grade 9 students, the session focused on Newton’s Laws and their role in understanding astronomical phenomena. Drawing from his NIUS camp experience and IIT Delhi internship, Akshay simplified complex concepts, making them relatable and easy to grasp. The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation, culminating in a lively discussion sparked by Akshay’s closing puzzle on Zeno’s Paradox. This session deepened students’ interest in astrophysics and left them inspired to explore the wonders of the universe further.

Exploring India’s Artistic Heritage: SNS Students Visit the National Craft Museum

A group of Grade 11 and 12 students from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, accompanied by teacher Mr. Abhinav Yagnik, visited the National Craft Museum as part of an educational initiative to deepen their understanding of Indian art and heritage. The objective was to help students appreciate the aesthetics of artifacts, connect personally with various art forms, and develop a critical perspective towards historical crafts.

The visit began with a guided tour covering the Indus Valley Civilization, Mauryan Art, Gupta Art, and the Miniature Painting section. Students then had the opportunity to explore the museum independently, engaging with the Ivory, Metal, and Coin sections. Throughout the visit, they actively documented their experiences through photography.

Students will now translate their observations and insights into presentations, reflecting on different folk art forms across mediums and timelines. This enriching experience helped bridge classroom learning with cultural history, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s artistic legacy and complementing the vibrant learning culture at Shiv Nadar School.

A huge congratulations to DAV Boys – Gopalapuram, who emerged as the Overall Champions of STEAMphony 2025!

Leadership Beyond Competition

To enrich the learning experience for our Middle Years students, we took a unique approach—having them lead the event as hosts instead of participants. This decision gave them a platform to develop essential life skills beyond competition.

Through this experience, our students:
Built leadership and teamwork skills through event management.
Enhanced communication and interpersonal abilities by interacting with students from different schools.
Developed responsibility and organization by handling logistics.
Gained valuable exposure to high-level competitions.
Embraced the spirit of collaboration and inclusivity as gracious hosts.

From ensuring smooth transitions between venues to reading out rules, managing time, assisting with meals, and creating a welcoming environment, our students truly rose to the occasion!

Looking Ahead

With such an inspiring debut, we are excited to make STEAMphony an annual tradition—continuing to empower students as leaders while fostering a love for STEAM learning in the larger community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making STEAMphony 2025 a resounding success!
