Exploring India’s Artistic Heritage: SNS Students Visit the National Craft Museum

A group of Grade 11 and 12 students from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, accompanied by teacher Mr. Abhinav Yagnik, visited the National Craft Museum as part of an educational initiative to deepen their understanding of Indian art and heritage. The objective was to help students appreciate the aesthetics of artifacts, connect personally with various art forms, and develop a critical perspective towards historical crafts.

The visit began with a guided tour covering the Indus Valley Civilization, Mauryan Art, Gupta Art, and the Miniature Painting section. Students then had the opportunity to explore the museum independently, engaging with the Ivory, Metal, and Coin sections. Throughout the visit, they actively documented their experiences through photography.

Students will now translate their observations and insights into presentations, reflecting on different folk art forms across mediums and timelines. This enriching experience helped bridge classroom learning with cultural history, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s artistic legacy and complementing the vibrant learning culture at Shiv Nadar School.
