CASSANDRAS Space Settlement

12 of our students of Grades 8 and 9 have submitted the attached proposal to qualify for the Indian National Space Settlement Design Competition. This competition leads to the Asian Semi-finals for the ‘International Space Settlement Design Competition’ held every year in July at the NASA's Kennedy Space Centre, Florida. In this competition, the students are put in the shoes of aerospace industry engineers, designing a settlement in space that will be home for about 9,000 people. Student engineers demonstrate creativity, technical competence, management skills, space environment  knowledge, teamwork and presentation techniques to conquer the problems inherent in designing a Space Settlement. This year the Competition Organisers from NASA and Boeing have developed a challenge which requires the students to design 'CASSANDRAS' which will be the first fusion-propelled space settlement, which will serve as a “space cruise liner” enabling 80-day transits between Earth and Mars. Our students have created the attached 40-page report that addresses the issues and communicates their ideas and designs.

If there would have been a forth Gandhian monkey, what would it depict?'

To mark the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, students of grades 1 to 5 virtually celebrated Gandhi Jayanti through a variety of activities such as powerpoint presentations, role-plays, video on biography of Gandhiji and played Truth-o-mania. Students were also taken through a virtual tour of the Gandhi Ashram situated in Sabarmati, Gujarat. As a part of the role-play, students personified various possessions of Gandhiji like his spectacles, dhoti, stick/laathi and shared their experiences of being with Bapu. Students also answered a few introspective questions on a padlet wall such as 'What is that one change you would like to see in the world?' and 'If there would have been a forth Gandhian monkey, what would it depict?'

Hindi Divas Celebration

Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14th September every year.  To mark this day , children did various activities during their live classes. It culminated on 18th September through a role play / enactment activity. In this, children came dressed as their favourite character of a story/poem . They were expected to talk about their character, speak their dialogues, sing the poem, or summarise the story in their own words. Children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and spoke exceptionally well. This activity helped in strengthening  their speaking skill and also helped to enhance their interest towards the language.
