Shiv Nadar School Faridabad Brown Team Wins Silver Medal in Ethics Olympiad
The Brown team of Shiv Nadar School Faridabad won a Silver medal in the first round of the Ethics Olympiad, marking the second consecutive year they have achieved this feat. This was the second time our school participated in The Ethics Olympiad and won the Silver medal for the second time. The team is preparing for the final round in July and we have high hopes of winning that too.
Ethics Olympiad provides schools and universities with a unique opportunity to develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. It is designed to get students thinking and ultimately working together on some of the tough moral issues of our time. Our objective is to do more than just help them think through ethical issues: It provides a positive and constructive space to think through ethical issues together, as fellow citizens in a complex moral and political community.
The students (Eth-letes) are trained by a coach (usually a teacher) as they prepare for an Ethics Olympiad. Age-appropriate and interesting ethical cases are released each year, and these are provided to coaches before the event. We use Zoom to bring the teams together on the day, so all you need is access to the internet.
Senior High School Olympiads (15-18 years old) are held in May each year, and Middle School Ethics Olympiads (12-14 years old) are conducted in November. Junior School Ethics Olympiads (9-12 years old) are held in June and September. In 2023, the Australian Association of Practical and Applied Ethics will host the AAPAE Tertiary Ethics Olympiad (for university students) in October.

IBDP Year 2 Students Excel in Theory of Knowledge Exhibition
The IBDP Year 2 students at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, began their academic year with an impressive Theory of Knowledge (TOK) exhibition. Starting in the last week of April, students selected three objects and linked them to one prompt out of 35, offering diverse perspectives. They then wrote formal commentaries using TOK language, ensuring authenticity with rigorous checks and continuous guidance from TOK teachers.
Each student's commentary required well-supported evidence, with citations and explanations justifying the inclusion of their chosen objects. The process emphasized critical thinking and the application of TOK concepts to real-life contexts. The culmination was an eloquent exhibition where students shared their findings, articulating personal connections to the objects and demonstrating their analytical skills.
The students’ ability to convey complex ideas clearly and their insightful analyses were noteworthy, reflecting their deep engagement with TOK. This exercise not only reinforced their understanding of TOK but also enhanced their research, writing, and presentation skills, marking a significant achievement in their academic journey at Shiv Nadar School's IB Diploma Programme.
