GOALS PROJECT 2021
This year our school participated in 2021 GOALS PROJECT, where the students collaborated with 1600 global classrooms from 118 countries to examine the UN Sustainable Development Goals and their ability to take action through shared experience and use of innovative technologies and practices.
This project aimed to lead behaviour change, through education and was reinforcement of our school philosophy of Education for Life. It provided the phenomenon based learning and 21st century skills allowing students to be creative, to collaborate at a global scale, understand empathy, think critically and most importantly take action.
The students of our school worked on the project: Life Below Water. During the six week project they connected and interacted with teachers and experts across the globe. As a group they acted upon (SDG) Sustainable Development Goal 14 - Life Below Water, which states the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
Collectively, our Environmental Stewards from Middle and Senior school explored the SDG by studying its causes, effects and pondered upon the solutions. Their ideas and solutions took diverse directions of composing and performing songs, creating school-wide and community wide campaigns, making resolution paper and draft policy as they continue to reach and report. They voiced their dissent through various mediums like stop-motion videos, neighbourhood clean-ups, beach clean-ups, bake sales, clothing and food drives. Various Art projects, inventions and experiments were also shared on this platform.
They got the opportunity to join hands with project partners from the UN in a global online celebration of the Goals Project Day of Solutions. These students spoke of diversity, equality, climate change and clean energy when they conducted interviews, wrote letters and raised their voices.
The Goal Project culminated with the students from all across the world sharing their final projects. Through their passion and grit they are teaching the world how change can be brought through actions and shared humanity!

Student Council Clubs
Where the online mode may have taken away our socialisation, it has in fact given us the gift of time to increase that socialisation, albeit virtually. Making good use of this “gift Horse” the Student Council in an endeavour to pass on their legacy initiated various interactive Clubs.
- The love of reading, an ingrained attitude in the fabric of SNS was introduced as the Middle School Book lovers club, aptly named “The Page Turners”. The students reciprocated enthusiastically, pitching in to create & design the club website. The weekly meetings aimed to make its attendees more confident and provide space for discussion about the books they love.
- When words fall short to express the language of the mind, soul and heart, Art helps translate. It is a medium of self-expression, a reflection of one’s beliefs and needs. Students were provided with an opportunity, an outlet for their creative imaginations, by the formation of the “Izhaar Art Zine Cub”. Bearing in mind the vision of the school to foster creativity, this club is a continuation of the same. The budding artists are offered the freedom to experiment with the medium, genre, stylings and an Izhaar of what makes each one unique.
- In continuum to the encouragement of expression, the “Izhaqat, theatre club” was formed. The name is an amalgamation of the Urdu words Izhaar and Nazaaqat, meaning graceful expression. It is a platform providing non-judgmental freedom to discover, explore, hone skills, foster passion and confidence without any inhibitions. Mr. Ankur Saxena (alumnus of NSD), an actor, director and poet, was the first guest speaker invited to address the importance of expressions and voice. The club will try to collaborate for some more workshops with him. The club also has an altruistic expression, and the "Cubs" are exploring options to organize fundraisers and reaching out to old-age homes, orphanages and government schools to help them in these difficult pandemic times.
- After Art and Theatre, the next expressionist club is the 8Beats-A Western dance society. The aim was to support and motivate each other into improving on technique and stylings, thus creating a group of passionate performers with the ability to represent the school in various inter-school competitions. The group’s efforts bore fruit in the “Wired 2020”, held by The Heritage School, wherein the team bagged the 2nd prize. The team also anchored a very enjoyable Teacher’s Day workshop.
- The Shiv Nadar School is a safe and free space to express and allow the germination of new ideas. The Gender Sexuality Alliance is a club that hopes to start conversations about gender neutrality and open acceptance of sexuality. Earlier the IBDP students had initiated the Gay-Straight Alliance club, taking it forward this year, not only was it renamed but also opened to all the students. The aim of this club is to facilitate activism in form of open discussions without any prejudices to provide a welcoming environment for all the students.
Besides aiding their Teachers in making the InSync competitions a resounding success, the members also extended help to the School Admissions team by conducting the Online School Tours, prior to the commencement of the nursery admissions.
Our Student Council is proving to be valuable partners in our journey in these VUCA times.

Author Visit - Christopher C Doyle
Meet the Author-Christopher C. Doyle.
“Sometimes you need to look deeper within. If you look for a deeper meaning, you will find it” Christopher C. Doyle
In continuum to promote reading, Shiv Nadar School often conducts “Meet the Author” sessions. Our most recent guest was Christopher C. Doyle, an author who transports the reader into a fascinating world where ancient secrets buried in legends blend with science and history to create a gripping story.
Mr Doyle pursued a career in the corporate sector armed with degrees in Economics and Business Management. His inherent love for history and science brought to us his take on the secrets and mysticism around the ancient Indians.
The author’s grasp on the mysteries that the ancient world throws up isn’t just bound to Indian history, his curiosity has led him to research and try to find some semblance in the labyrinths of the bygone world, sometimes as proof bound answers and sometimes as speculative explanations.
Most of these sessions are Q&As, Mr Doyle shook things up by sharing a presentation, a mixed bag of historical facts that ignited the most “susegad” of minds. Throughout the session, Mr Doyle put forth not just facts but also the biggest ‘WHAT IF’s of ancient Indian History and the world. He made us dig deeper and rethink the ‘HOW COULD’ which tells us not only about the strong interconnection between the Natural Sciences, Human Sciences and technology but makes them even more relatable and their importance timeless.
As a responsible writer, he bases his stories on facts weaving the storyline in fiction prompting the reader to be enthralled and yet intrigued. He has divided his work as the science fictional works based on the grand epic Mahabharta and the second a fantasy thriller series drawing inspiration from Indian scriptural stories.
Christopher C. Doyle has also initiated “A Quest Club” for like-minded, die-hard adventurers, seekers of ancient mysteries and looking for thrills and excitement. Membership to this club is available online and free. Some of the benefits are accessibility to unread, unpublished chapters, discussions on the content, information on characters and locations mentioned in the books, contests and interactive mysteries to solve. In short an endeavour by Mr Doyle to partner with his readers in adventure and seeking ancient mysteries.

World Read Aloud Day
'World Read Aloud Day' was initiated by Litworld in 2010, to celebrate the power of reading aloud, creating and connecting communities to amplify new stories and to advocate for literacy as a foundational human right. Litworld, an organization committed to spreading the joy of reading and building a community of readers has earmarked the first Wednesday of February as World Read Aloud Day.
World Read Aloud Day was celebrated across Primary, Middle and Senior School through Live Book Talks. Through the years students have been sharing and exchanging books with their friends. Their excitement was evident when they got this opportunity to do it in a live event. They were invited to present their books and speak about the author, the title, the genre, and reasons why they would recommend the book to their peers. After the presentation, they also answered questions about the book. A small session of teachers followed where they read out an excerpt from a book they had read.
The event was a huge success and generated an awareness about new genres and authors. The suggestions poured in by the students - the Live Book Talk to be a regular feature, Hindi books to be a part of the event and so on. Students looked forward to reading the books recommended by their friends which concur with the essence of the event to build a community of readers.
