Model United Nations Conference @ Shiv Nadar School Noida- 4th Edition

Fourth edition of the Shiv Nadar School Model United Nations Conference was hosted from August 1-3, 2019. Each year the conference draws independent young thinkers from across the board to explore their abilities through deliberations and evolve as informed and responsible citizens of 21st Century. The agendas or topics taken up during our MUN Conference this year were a reflection of real-world issues discussed by the United Nations, and range from general topics such as rights of religious minorities to specific topics such cybercrime and criminal justice mechanisms.

With over 350 Delegates from the schools across Delhi-NCR participating in our Conference, the three days are filled with nuances of active diplomacy in the most authentic simulation of UN4MUN Procedures.

International Media forms an integral part of the learning that emerges through the MUN engagement.  The Media team brings out a pre MUN journal - 'MUN Uncovered' followed by a daily edition of 'The Delegate Daily' that covers the everyday proceedings across various committees of the conference. The final publications are a result of an intense process that involves Conceptualization, Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Creativity.  An involvement through each step of the process, keeping the theme of the conference in mind, students from the IM team work towards creating these publications, working as writers, editors, analysts, photographers and caricaturists, and in that tying in the four C's together. With each step learning, unlearning and relearning becomes pivotal with the International Media playing the role of the 'watchdogs', seeking to herald the truth 'always', and reporting facts 'as they are'.

Lawtoons 2 Book Launch

Shiv Nadar School, Noida organized a book launch - Lawtoons 2 on 26th July, 2019. The session was conducted for the students of Grade VII, VIII, IX & XI. Lawtoons is a project that uses illustrations to make Law and Legal rights easier to understand for young minds. Information about citizenship, democracy, laws & rights that students learn in school, sometimes, is difficult to relate to and hence the medium of comics and storytelling that Lawtoons relies on,  works well. The Author of the book, Kanan Dhru is the founder of Research Foundation for Governance in India. A law-graduate from the London School of Economics, she has worked with a variety of organizations across the world and is a visiting scholar at the Stanford University.

Book Lovers' Club

"We Read and We Encourage Everyone to Read".  With this thought, we initiated a Book Lovers' Club for our parents who would meet once a month. The first meeting was held on Saturday, 3rd August with the theme: Let's start with a short story'. When parents met, there was a splendid activity conducted with them 'Let's be Wordsmith'. Parents were to give captions to certain images that were shown to them. Post that, parents read profound short stories that were quite relatable. It was delightful and overwelming to see zealous parents narrating stories including "The Holocaust"and "The postmaster". Few parfents also came up with hindi short stories.

Principal, Ms. Anju Wal ended the session with a short story on The Bet by Anton Chekhov.

Sharing a glimpse of the same.
