The set-up for the festivals was at various stalls created with five elements, namely, festive décor, a game, crafts corner, food of the festival and performances/storytelling about the festival. Children enjoyed the various creatively designed games, indulged in the craft activities, sat in rapt attention through the storytelling, and participated along in the performances, all the while enjoying the yummylicious food prepared for them by the parents. The accompanying parents and grandparents, too, participated in all the fun and activities with great zeal and enthusiasm basking in the glorious autumn sun.

Kaafila 2019- The First Integrated Arts Festival of Shiv Nadar School
If words were mankind’s sole medium of expression, we would’ve seen much less struggle. As it happens, they convey only a fraction of the myriad thoughts that engulf the human mind. The essence of our humanity lies in the way we look beyond physical appearance and blend beauty with emotion. We derive joy from the iridescent dew drop on a single blade of grass, the weightless flutter of a butterfly’s wings, the white fortitude of a crashing wave. Such exquisite elegance transcends words; it must be felt to be understood. We therefore look upon the world through the arts. They convey thoughts and feelings we wouldn’t dare put into words, stripping away pretenses and inhibitions to bare underlying emotions and offer a glimpse into humanity, in all its beautiful starkness.
It is to celebrate this unfettered expression that Shiv Nadar School organised ‘Kaafila’, an arts festival. As the name suggests, it is a procession of the arts. It brings together the various art forms in a heady amalgamation of vivid colour and snazzy beats, to create something magical. It is a series of performances and interactional events that help explore different perspectives, skills and emotions. Apart from being celebratory, the festival also includes a competitive aspect, with events that seek to challenge our interpretation of the arts, as well as the world, and push us towards a more comprehensive perspective, while broadening horizons and enhancing skills. Music, Dance, Theatre and Art are all doorways that lead to dazzling worlds of whimsical reality. The festival delves deep into each of these worlds, while also offering a glimpse into the new avenues of creativity that open up when these art forms are melded together. It aims to alter our perceptions and reacquaint us with our humanity, while exposing the raw emotion that is the root of all beauty.
Today's reader is tomorrow's leader !!
On 25th October’2019, the students of the Service Learning Club went to the government school in Bhatola. The aim for our visit was to donate the books we had collected. We also interacted with the students there and told them stories from those books itself to develop their interest in reading. Since Diwali was around the corner, they all had decorated their classes and had made beautiful rangolis. We were really amazed after seeing the way they had decorated their corridors and their classes. They were really excited and happy to see us and even more curious to read the books we had got for them. They listened to us very carefully while we told them stories. The students there were confident and also very interactive. They were also very fluent and well spoken. We were overwhelmed by receiving the love and affection that we did on our first visit. We realised that we were very privileged to get so many facilities and opportunities in our school and we are thankful for them.
Funkaar 2019
The word ‘funkaar’ means artist; but ‘fun’kaar is also having fun at work! Funkaar Week is a time for exploring the science behind the Arts and Heritage of our country. It is a time to combine theoretical learning with hands-on work, a time to appreciate the scientific processes that form an intricate part of our art forms. The students from all the grades work on arts-led learning based on science and social science themes. Every activity undertaken leads to some learning through different ways:
•Learning by doing: Explore and experience working with their hands and bodies.
•Learning by exposure: Meeting practitioners from different fields in an arts-intense atmosphere, have discussions and workshops.
•Learning by chance: Displays around the school to reflect heritage arts and crafts, discuss their origins and what we know about their history and development, including their contemporary circumstances.
