70th CONSTITUTION CONSTITUTION DAY QUIZ

On 26th November 1949, the Constitution Drafting Committee lead by Dr.B.R Ambedkar completed the legal framework, which is considered to be the backbone of modern India: The Constitution.

In honour of this 70th Constitution Day, a quiz was held at the School of Law at Ansal University. 24 teams from all around Delhi NCR participated in the event. Our school was represented by Shalv Srivastava and Aaryan Sridharan of Grade 11, who won the first prize.

24 teams who competed against each other in the first round, were tested for their general awareness. Out of the 24 teams, only 8 teams were selected for the second round of general awareness. 4 of the 8 teams made it to the final round which consisted of a rapid-fire round and a KBC style multiple choice round. The questions were based on Indian politics and the Constitution.

The participants enjoyed the quiz and became more aware and knowledgeable about the Indian political framework.

Behes - Open Debate Competition

Forty-eight students of Shiv Nadar School Gurugram participated in the Behes Open Debate Competition in teams of three. 21 schools took part in a round-robin style debate to vie for a place in the quarter-finals. After three rounds of debate where the students were judged by a Behes representative, seven teams out of the sixteen who participated went ahead to the knockout rounds. After an intense battle of wit and knowledge, Shiv Nadar School students won both the Junior (Cub) debate championship as well as the Senior (Lion) debate championship. Agastya Rao, Abhimanyu Rao, and Mihir Rao, all from Grade 8 took home the first place for the cubs, while Shreaya Malhotra and G. S. Charita of Grade 12 and Drisha Dadheech of Grade 10 walked away victorious in the Lions Division.

A Budding Shooter

It gives us immense pleasure to share that Viraj Singh Goel, student of Grade 4, has won GOLD Medal in the "Air Rifle NR Under 12 Men’s Category” organized by the prestigious Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Shooting Championship 2019, held from 12th June to 15th June in Delhi.

Viraj secured 393 points out of 400. Currently, Viraj is attending a Shooting Camp at Jaspal Rana Institute of Education & Technology in Dehradun, Uttrakhand, a distinguished institute for Physical Education and Sports.

The 2019 Pramerica Spirit Of Community Awards.

We are proud to announce Om Shalat of Grade XII bagged Silver Medal in the Individual category of Pramerica Spirit of Community award 2019. He was awarded for designing the Artificial Intelligence based smart traffic light system which would  reduce fleet time and air pollution. The  Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is a school level recognition programme for volunteer community service. The objective of the award is to encourage the efforts of school children who have made a difference and inspired countless others. Over last 9 years when the awards were  introduced 40,000 students have applied which has grown in strength and stature

Grade 8 Initiative for Research, Inquiry & Creation of Academic Paper

Great accomplishment in nascent beginnings of MUN @ Faridabad school. 

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) regularly evaluates the competencies of 15-year-old students around the world.   Key focus of the survey is Research and Inquiry.

Since October 2018 ,  60 Grade VIII students from all 3 campuses have voluntarily engaged with the GRADE VIII INITIATIVE FOR RESEARCH , INQUIRY , AND CREATION OF AN ACADEMIC PAPER.

This initiative was not designed as a competition . Rather, it was about faculty-mentors guiding and supporting students to create Quality Academic Papers .

Purely incidentally, Acknowledgements were part of the initiative - to motivate students.

Ms. Anjana Ramdev and Ms. Meenakshi Sharma from Faridabad were the faculty mentors spearheading the Initiative.

Total 16 Academic Papers were shortlosted. 

>Ria Singh, of Shiv Nadar Faridabad, has delivered an outstanding Academic Paper on the Topic 21st Century India Should Learn from the World and the World Should Learn from India with a word count of 2839 and earned the First Position.

By way of Acknowledgement ,  Ria Singh will receive

i) A Certificate of Excellence  from Alma College , Michigan :

ii) The Alma Medal of Honour: 

iii) Academic Grant of Rs 15000 from Alma College which can be used for buying Books / educational materials , subscriptions to Periodicals etc.

Water Digest Award- 2019

Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon was awarded the BEST SCHOOL IN WATER MANAGEMENT in the NCR region. It is for the second time the school has received Water Digest Award. The award is presented every year by a renowned Global Magazine Water Digest which is also recognized by  UNESCO.

3rd Junior Astitva Samaan Award -2019

The Junior Astitva Samman is given by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Women and Child Development Committee to encourage and motivate students that have demonstrated innovations, leading to socio-economic upliftment of the society in general.

The students of Grade X were honoured with the 3rd Junior Astitva Samman award 2019. Our students Ms Tanishka Sahay, Ms Navya Sachdeva, Aryan Verma, Tejasv Rastogi received the award at PHD house New Delhi from the Secretary General of Rajya Sabha Mr D D Verma along with Mr Rajeev Talwar, President PHD chamber. This project was a part of the capstone project that grade X children conduct every year. 

The cost-effective and portable ‘Posture Perfect’ device is user-friendly and is driven by Artificial Intelligence that may correct posture of those who are suffering from Text Neck, an ailment which originates due to excessive texting/viewing on handheld devices over a sustained period of time. It sends alerts for sitting in the wrong posture and continues until the person corrects it.

This recognition is a great boost to these young innovative thinkers, paving way for greater ideas in future.

Green School Programme Award

Being an earth-minded community, the Shiv Nadar School, Gurugram, is proud to be rated as a "Green School" by the "Green School Programme" audit 2018. This programme is conducted every year by the 'Centre for Science and Environment' .

Our school is one of the 118 schools from across the country that have been shortlisted as a 'Green School' out of a total of 1696 schools who participated this year.

Following an online quiz, about 30 students of grade VII were shortlisted, managing time between their classes, moving around the school premises under the able guidance of their teachers, a very enthusiastic brigade of students collected the data required for the audit under the six domains. Besides it being a great learning experience for our students, sharing their experiences and findings during the assembly time served to create awareness and appreciation for the environment.

World Federation of Model United Nations 2019

At the World Federation of Model United Nations 2019 which recently concluded at New York the students had the opportunity to part of a conference which brings together approximately 1200 participants from 75 countries across the Globe.

Anannya Meghani from Grade 11 stood out to bag the Best Position Paper Award in her committee ECOSOC, Commission on Crime Prevention and Restorative Justice at the 5th culmination of the WFUNA Conference.

The Opening and Closing ceremony for this prestigious Conference is held at United Nations Headquarter at New York.

There were three participants from Shiv Nadar School NOIDA Rinsangi Tochwang and Trishan Dollny who represented the school and were applauded for their efforts and contribution in their respective committees.
